1.0.0
LatestOctober 21, 2026- GetFerret comes to Windows. Catalog every drive you own and find any file on it, including the drives that are not plugged in right now. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Search every drive. Type part of a file or folder name and see every match on every drive, plugged in or not. Filter by photos, videos, audio, documents or folders, and preview a file whose drive is plugged in.
- It remembers the drawer. Unplug a drive and GetFerret asks where you are keeping it, such as "top desk drawer", then tells you where to look.
- The quick bar. While GetFerret is open, press Ctrl+Alt+Space to search from anywhere.
- Duplicates, handled carefully. Every copy is read in full before one is moved, and extra copies go to a GetFerret recycle folder on their own drive, where you can put them back.
- Safekeeping. See which photos, videos and PDFs exist in only one place, check for bit rot, and back up at-risk files to an external drive you choose.
- Verified offload. Copy a camera card, a drive or a folder to up to three places at once, with a checksum list (xxHash64, MD5 or SHA-256). The source is never changed.
- Private by design. Your catalog stays on your PC, encrypted with a key only your Windows user account can unlock.
- One license, Mac or Windows. Free for 14 days, then $49 once for up to 3 computers, Mac or Windows in any mix. The license works offline for up to 60 days between check-ins.
- Updates itself. New versions download in the background. Choose Restart Now to finish.
Nests, Stash, tags, Smart Collections, photo and video details, and cloud folders are on Mac only, for now. The Windows app is in English for now.
