End User License Agreement

The plain-language terms for installing and using GetFerret on your Macs.

1. License grant

Keepers Code, LLC, doing business as GetFerret (a Keepers Code app; "we," "us," or "our") grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use GetFerret (the "app") on the number of Macs covered by the license you purchase: three (3) Macs for a standard license, or the number of seats (activations) specified by your volume (multi-seat) license. You may install and use the app only on Macs that you, or for a volume license your organization, own or control, for your own or your organization's internal use. Each Mac counts as one seat; you may move a seat to another Mac by deactivating it on the first. If you obtained GetFerret through an authorized third-party marketplace, your license, including how many devices you may use it on and how that access is managed, is instead governed by that marketplace's terms and your membership or entitlement with it; the rest of this Agreement still applies to your use of the app.

2. Ownership

GetFerret is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the app, including all intellectual-property rights. This Agreement gives you only the limited rights described here.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

  • (a) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent the law expressly permits;
  • (b) redistribute, resell, rent, lease, or sublicense the app;
  • (c) share or publish your license key, where one applies; or
  • (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices in the app.

4. Trial

GetFerret offers a 14-day free trial so you can evaluate the app before you buy. The terms of this Agreement apply to you during the trial just as they do once you have a paid license. When the trial ends, a license is required to keep using the app.

5. Purchases and refunds

Because we offer a free 14-day trial with full access to the app, all purchases are final and non-refundable. By completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you had the opportunity to evaluate GetFerret during the trial period. License keys issued for completed purchases are non-returnable.

EU and UK customers. By purchasing, you request and agree to immediate access to the digital product, and you expressly acknowledge that you therefore lose your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal or cancellation.

If GetFerret isn't working properly for you, we still want to hear about it. Email support@getferret.app and we'll help you get it working.

If you obtained GetFerret through a third-party marketplace, that marketplace's own terms govern your purchase, billing, and any refunds, not this section.

6. Your files and catalog

Your files and the catalog GetFerret builds of them are yours. The app reads your drives to build a searchable catalog, and that catalog is stored locally on your Mac and encrypted at rest. Nothing about your files or your catalog is sent to us or to any server, and we claim no ownership of, and no rights to, your content. To catalog your drives, GetFerret needs the macOS permissions you grant it (such as Full Disk Access); it uses them only on your Mac to do the job you asked for. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Data safety and file operations

GetFerret includes features that move, copy, delete, deduplicate, reorganize, and back up files at your direction, including moving files to the Trash and copying files between drives. These actions change or remove data on your Macs and drives. You are solely responsible for reviewing what you select, and for confirming you have current, independent backups, before running any operation that removes, moves, or overwrites files. Where it can, GetFerret moves files to the Trash rather than deleting them permanently, so they can be recovered, but you are responsible for verifying the result of every operation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, deletion, corruption, overwriting, or misplacement of files, catalogs, or other data arising from your use of the app or these features, whether or not caused by a defect in the app. Nothing in the app relieves you of the responsibility to keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

8. Termination

This license ends automatically if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop using the app and remove it from your Macs. Your files and your local catalog remain yours and stay on your device.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

GetFerret is provided "AS IS" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. GetFerret helps you find, catalog, and protect your files, but it is not a substitute for maintaining your own backups; you are responsible for keeping copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app or this Agreement is limited to the amount you paid for GetFerret, whether to us or through an authorized marketplace. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including any loss of data.

11. Export and governing law

You agree to comply with all applicable export laws and regulations when using GetFerret. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Note: The licensing entity ("Keepers Code, LLC, doing business as GetFerret") and the governing-law jurisdiction (State of Idaho, USA) above are placeholders and should be confirmed with counsel before this Agreement is relied upon.

12. Entire agreement and contact

This Agreement, together with our Privacy Policy, is the entire agreement between you and us regarding GetFerret, and supersedes any prior understandings. If you obtained the app through an authorized marketplace, that marketplace's terms also govern your purchase, billing, and refunds. Questions?
